This week, the students worked on their toys/contraptions. Working collaboratively with a partner, the students designed and reviewed each other’s plans before embarking on their own creation. The students are aware that changes to their original design is part of the process of developing a contraption. Importance is placed on the process more than accomplishing the final product. Mr. Patterson, Middle School science teacher, informed us of this. Records of the changes were done in the learning journal, to show the evolving process. Ms Benesova guided the students with their presentations. Emphasis was placed on keeping the audience interested in the demonstration using clear voices and making eye contact. Our Grade 1 buddies popped in for a visit and read together¬†on Monday¬†afternoon. Below is a mixed collection of pictures which capture the many ways learning happens in our classroom. Next week, we will have invited guests to view the contraptions.
