It’s been an amazing year at the School Community Garden. After recovering from Typhoons and building site damage the garden was the scene of many powerful learning opportunities and countless moments of joy. Kindergarten students have been enjoying finding 2-D shapes recently in the garden. After their trip to Pacem Eco park Grade 2  Fiery Phoenix Class brought back 8 herb plants which they  planted and are growing well. We have been visited on many occasions by the Green Team after school student group. Grade 4’s have experimented with soil enrichment programs using eggshells and we recently had a visit from two brilliant grade 8 students who shared their learning about growing plants with the newly formed Community Garden after school activity which meets every Wednesday from 2:15-3:10pm in room 1004 before going to the garden. We are often visited by special guests who help us to learn about sustainability and permaculture amongst many other learning skills and dispositions. The garden has been there for us this year as a wonderful authentic environment in which to learn and connect together.
