¬†What a fun day of Filipino culture and activities (we even got a large dose of Filipino rain!!). The Smartians rotated themselves through a fun-filled day of rotations, starting with the assembly in the Fine Arts Theatre. Our class was the only Grade 3 class to perform on stage, and everyone did very well – bravo! After the assembly filled with dance, music and even Mr. Campbell and Mr. Rourke speaking Tagalog, we headed off to our first rotation – storytelling in the CMC. Then it was off to try our hand (or feet?!!) at the Filipino bamboo dancing called tikling…what your ankles!! After recess we continued on to learn some Tagalog language through¬† the games of Bingo, charades and headbands. Next we had a blast riding on a jeepney – our world record challenge was to see how many people would wave at us along the street (psssst… we got 18 people to wave and many more to smile at us!). The high school parade passed us by as we were enjoying our icecream cones. After lunch, we tried out some Filipino bamboo musical instruments and finished off our delightful day at the food station -yum yum! Happy holiday everyone… [tylr-slidr userID=”” groupID=””]http://www.flickr.com/photos/ismanilaes/sets/72157631849288063/[/tylr-slidr]
