Terrance Stanley Fox is also known as Terry Fox. He was born on July 28,1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He ran for a cure for Cancer. Terry Fox had cancer and lost his right leg to it, then, in 1964 at the age of 17, doctors replaced it with a fake one.
Before Terry had Cancer, he would play baseball, soccer, basketball and rugby. His PE coach, who was also his basketball coach, wanted him to try running as a sport. He wanted to make his coach happy, so he did it. One day, when he was driving, he had a horrible accident. His knee hurt, but he wasn’t going to tell anyone until the end of the basket ball season. He went to the hospital and the doctors had to amputate his leg.
He ran and he ran and he ran on till he had to stop. He started in Newfoundland and ended up in Thunder Bay. The reason, when the doctors took it off they did not get rid of it. It did not go to the other knee it when to his lungs. The doctors and tried to save him but he died,on June 28,1981.At the age of 22.
When he ran and he made the total of 24.7 million dollars.He used it all for cancer research. When he died people were sad but they stayed strong.One thing that he made was the Marathon of Hope. Until this day the Marathon of Hope in still running. Old or young, small or tall. Everyone runs, I did it. He was running,for a cure! He is a Canadian hero to all.
