Wow- this is the last week in April! Where did the month go?? I think we had better put on our running shoes for the end of the school year!

What is happening in English and Social Studies this week?

English

Our short story drafts are coming along nicely. This week we will have two focii:

1. DESCRIPTION -adding all those lovely adjectives and luscious words.

2. DIALOGUE – how to make it effective and punctuating it properly.

Here are your options!

If you want to make your fossils out of play dough, try the recipe below.

Uncooked Play Dough

2 cups of plain flour
4 tablespoons of ‘cream of tartar’
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
2 cups of boiling water
food colouring

*Just pop it all in a mixing bowl and mix!

*It looks as though it is not going to mix well at first but hang in there and throw it onto the bench to knead, and it will come together really nicely.

*We put different things in ours also such as glitter and sand.  Just be careful you don’t put things in like rice as they tend to go moldy – we find glitter is really good.

*Add peppermint oil for a great smell and even longer lasting play dough…

*Hope this helps everyone.

*Cheers and Happy Play Doughing! (get into it, it is really relaxing to knead)

After the fossils research, we will then continue with hominid timelines. You will be integrating your science and math skills for this one! You will have a partnered activity for the first session, followed by a time line quiz for the second session.
