This week the children took a closer look into their families to gain a clearer understanding of families as a group. Earlier in the week, they explored literature within our classroom and identified elements that they recognized their family doing and elements that other families might do.  They worked in pairs and created a “T” chart that shared their findings.  This is displayed in the classroom on our working wall so feel free to come on by and see what the children have discovered through this activity.

To further develop their understanding of families and their importance, the children brought in items that represented their family.  These items are displayed in our “Classroom Museum” when the children have begun to observe, question and make connections to.  To think further about a particular item that was brought in by this classmates, they picked one item and answered multiple questions, which provided their personal insight the item and where/who it belongs to.  The children are anxious to do their open share at the end of the week where they get to reveal their “secret” item!
