The children have been working hard at creating paragraphs in the classroom. They started with a recount from their December holiday and narrowed in on a “Small Moment” in time. With help, the children were able to choose a special moment and expand their thinking to add greater detail. They worked on using all of their senses to describe their small moment. It was lovely that Lulu shared her BIG moment of accepting the Championship trophy for Level 1 All-Around Gymnast. With her experience, the class easily envisioned being Lulu in that small moment. The smell of hard work in the gym, the sound of her name being called, the feeling she had as she walked to the podium, the sight of her Mom jumping up in congratulations, the sound of the crowd cheering and clapping and finally the taste of success in her mouth. (Okay I had to add that last metaphor). Here are a few examples of the children’s final pieces of work.
