One thing you may notice in the second slideshow is that it refers to good and bad uses of sound effects, transitions and animations, but you don’t hear or see these. That’s because they no longer work when you upload the slideshow to slideshare.net.

(If you feel that this would seriously detract from your presentation, chances are your slideshow may be lacking in real substance…).

Hi Tony,

Access to the ISM ePortfolios requires an ISM network account. However, if you email me, I’ve got a couple of other ideas for getting you an example to show. There is also software that you can explore, if your school has a server with some space to set it up. Check out http://elgg.org/ for a software that allows you to host your own ePortfolios on the network. It’s good stuff, I hear. If you’ve got a good IT department and do not currently have a portal, this is a very powerful way to go about it.

By the way - we’re in the process of setting up Digital- or e-portfolios in our new school - any chance I can get access to ISM ones as examples? And have you got any useful resources to share…?

To delete a comment in Microsoft Word, just right-click it and select Delete comment. If you inserted a voice comment, saving the file should also remove the sound file you’d recorded. (However, I cannot test this just now as I’m writing on a machine that doesn’t have a microphone).

With the voice comments, just bear in mind the need to be succinct, though, as long, rambling recordings will bloat the files and make them very unwieldy to send as attachments.

You can, of course, use a combination of text and voice comments. The sound of the teacher’s voice can certainly be a difference that makes a difference, but certain things may be easier to explain in writing.
